Ella, the little daughter of Paul A. 1 Lietz, a carpenter and' cabinet maker at Sugar House, was drowned in Par- J ley's creek at 1 o'clock yesterday af ternoon. The little girl was found in k almost tho exact position and mot her i death in a manner very similar to that j in which her brother, the first, child of Mr. and Mrs. Lietz, was drowned just twenty rears ago. The little boy. when drowned, was only two years -j old. The little girl had not been out of )! Iter mother's sight fifteen minutes un- ,,j til the body was found lying on a riffle .i st below where she probably i J was drowned. Her mother and father I carried hor to tho house and neigh bors helped them in an effort io bring life back into the chilled body. They tried every method known to them, but when 'Or. Charles W. Stewart arrived ar-rived he said that tho girl had been J dead when taken from the water. She j would have been nine years old in August. ', There are some old logs across the ! creek, which flows back of the Li eta home at 202S South Tenth East street, j and these make a fall of about a foot ' below which is a pool which in some I places is about five feet deep. Ella left her shoes and stockings m the house ) and is thought to have been wading in 5 the pool above the little dam. She must have fallen over, as there ia J practicnllv no strength to the current there and not enough water to drown .. a child as large as she was unless she .) had been strangled as soon as she fell in. 4 The girl's mother did not know that eIio was wading in tho crcok and was 1 looking for her when Mr. Lietz re turned from the home of a neighbor. f where ho had been at work. They ' were together when they found the child who was lying on her arms as though she was asleep. Funeral services will .be held in the ' funeral chapel of Joseph W.
