There is the National Greet-ers' Greet-ers' convention, the Master Plumbers', Plumb-ers', the Railroad Telegraphers', the National Credit Men's convention and one that has not been given out by tho committee. Those conventions arc for 1912, with the exception of the Grcct-ers, Grcct-ers, nnd will be the means of bringing bring-ing thousands of visitors to Salt Lake in that year. Just what steps the committee- will take regarding the preliminary work necessary to getting the big mctings is not known, but every influence possible pos-sible in the state and this section of the country will be stirred into action on behalf "of the organizations pulling for their national meetings. There is authority that the adjoining slates will help bring the conventions to Salt Luke. No city iu any of the other intcrinouiitain states is aspirant, for an' of the conventions and for that reason if for no other favor will fall on Salt Lake, as the delegates attending conventions con-ventions iu Salt Lake visit many places in the west before returning to their homes, and the whole intormouutain country naturally derives some benefit. bene-fit. I'his feature of the matter will be discussod by the committee relative to spreading the campaign to the surrounding sur-rounding states. The meal organizations have asked th aid and influence of the Commercial club and through the conventions committee com-mittee the club will set influences at, work that .will undoubtedly help in. getting the meetings. One of the bars to conventions coming com-ing to Salt Lake 171 years gone by has been removed the question of hotel accommodations. ac-commodations. Within the last year or two tho hotel service of the city has been doubled and in 1012 Salt 'Lake will ba able to accommodate delegates to two or three conventions at one and the same time. New hotels completed and old hotels remodeled and enlarged make Salt Lake now one of tho best equipped cities in tho wesl from a hotel standpoint. The completion of the new Hotel Utah is now a matter of a few weeks. This is known throughout the east, and is becoming more widely known all the time. U is not unlikely that the conventions con-ventions t-pmmittee wili start a movement, move-ment, to open a campaign of advertising in every state in the union and in Canada, in which Salt Lake will be featured as the "Convontion City of I ho West." This probablv will be followed fol-lowed up by individual effort in support sup-port of the work the organizations will do to induce the selection to fall upon Salt, Lake for the big conventions. |
