Show M. G. CARPENTER LAID AT REST IN MT. 0LIVJBT Funeral services over the body of M. G. Carpenter was held at the mortuary chapel of S. M. Tavlor & Co yesterday afternoon at - o'clock. Mr. Carpenter died In this city April 17 of heart disease. dis-ease. Ho was born In Vuklah, Cal., Feb-ruarv Feb-ruarv 11, 1SC0. He was a son of L. F. Carpenter, one of the active pioneers of this western country, who camo to Salt Luke valley In 1SIJL In 1SSS. M. G. Carpenter moved from California to Spokane, Wash., but soon found his way to Old .Mission. Ida., where ho engaged in a general mercantile business, busi-ness, ft was while In Idaho that he married Miss Alice Harris, who. with her daughter, Louise, now a student in ihe College of Holy Names, Oukland, Cat, survives him. A few years ago Mr. Carpenter became be-came prominent as a very successful mining man in southern Nevada, About two months ago he came to Utah, was taken ill at Bingham, and. on the advice ad-vice of his physician, came lo Salt Lake lo bo treated at thc'lloly Cross hospital, but died at the hospital door. Word was Immediately sent to California, Cali-fornia, notifying Mrs. Carpenter of the sad event. A. F. Carpenter, a prominent wholesale fruit dealer of North Yakima, Wash., and brother of M. G. Carpenter, wus also notified. The widow and brother broth-er hastened to this city and, with several sev-eral local friends, attended the funeral yesterday. The services, ' under the direction of the Rev. R. P. Nichols, were brief but Impressive. Rev. Mr. Nichols also conducted con-ducted tho committal service at Ml. Olivet cemetery. The floral offerings were rich and beautiful. |
