Show FARMERS REFUSE POWER COMPANY USE OF WATER Special to The Tribune. OGDEN", July 20. Confronted by the positive refusal of the farmers who use water from the Davis .t Weber Counties Canal company's works for Irrigation purposes, to allow the waters ln the Weber river to be shut off for even a short time, tho Weber Canyon Power company, which recently completed Its power house at the mouth of Weber canyon. can-yon. Is unable to begin the operation of the plant until the Irrigation season is over or the waters of the Weber river rise sufficiently to fill the intake to the company's plpo lino. For several days the officials of the power company have been ready to start the big power plant, but the shallowness of the water above the dam prevents tho water from reaching the Intake which must convey It to tho plant. This Intake In-take Ik seven feet in diameter and a similar sim-ilar depth of water is necessary before the plant can bo started. Tho mammoth reservoir of the power company could bo easily filled ln twenty-four twenty-four hours If tho company were allowed to shut off the water from the Irrigation canal, but the farmers will not permit this and there is nothing to do but wait, as the Irrigation company has a prior right to the waters of the river. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN. July 20. Ogden lodge No. 710. B. P. O. E.. held a grand outing at Lagoon La-goon Friday. Special trains were run to this popular resort and a great crowd of Elks were thore, who celebrated as only Elks know how to celebrate. An excellent programme was carried out ano every one reports an excellent time. |
