Corn kept a firm tone, with occasional relapses, and closed strong. Oats kept within narrow llmlt.s, while provisions closed from 5c to 10c high for ribs and lard and 20c to 25c up for pork. Early In the day prices wore inclined lo weakness. Influenced by depressing cables and an abundance of offerings. The pit became oversold and offerings dried up, while reports of possibility of decreased de-creased crop through ravages of Insects In the southwestern fields added to the desire of shorts to cover. During the last hour wheat gained sharply. May going go-ing up to $1.09A from $1.07g; July advanced ad-vanced to S1.02 from Its low level of $1.01, and September touched $1.01 from a bottom of 99gc. The close was strong and near the top, with May 30AC up at $1.08fl1.08 July lUc higher at $1 021, and September lc up at $L00. Trade In corn was on a firm basis. Taking Tak-ing its cue from the advancing wheat market late In the day some strength was developed and futures closed strong at from 2c to lc up.
