Show SERVICES AT ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL The mass at S o'clock at St.. Mary's Catholic cathedral Sunday was said by the Rev. Father D. Slattcry. Father Slattery also said mass at St. Patrick's church on the west side at 10 o'clock. At the 0 o'clock mass tho Rt. Rev. Bishop Laurence Scnnlan officiated. Bishop Scanlan preached a strong sermon. At this mass the music was by tho St. Cecilia choir. Miss Matilda James sang "Cor Jesu." by Bordese, in beautiful voice. The Rev. Father D. Klely said the mass at 11 o'clock. The sermon was preached by the Rev. Father W..K. Ryan, who spoke plainly and strongly upon the duties of parchts to their children, Miss Margaret Connelley was the soloist, singing sing-ing "Come to Jesus" with pleasing effect. ef-fect. The cathedral male quurtctte sang "Adoro Te," by Palestrlna. The music at the vesper service in the evening was beautiful. A double male quartette sang the psalms of tho vesper service, and the cathedral male quartette sang "Salve Regent," by Ett. In a highly pleasing manner, "O. Salutarls," by Bordese. was sung by Nicholas Schutter, whose magnificent basso was heard in this solo to advantage. The services were conducted by Father Slattery, who also delivered an impressive sermon on the Blessed Virgin. |
