Show THE SCHOOLS OF TINTIC; LABOR DAY PROGRAMME Special to Tho Tribune. 12UREKA, Aug. 21. Sheriff Gus J. Hon-riod Hon-riod of Juab county Is in tne southern part of the state. His object Is to secure .several .sev-eral horses which have been stolen from this county recently and to arrest the thieves to whom ho has a pretty good clue. During Sheriff Henriod's absence, Deputy Sheriff Otto Whllbeck will have charge of the sheriff's office. John Ivey has Just comploted taking tho school census of Eureka and reports 107S children of school ago, 513 being boys and P35 girls. The public schools of this city will open on September 6. Miss Agnes Nolan of Salt Lake has been employed by I ho school board to tench the pupils of the eighth grade. Mrs. Bessie Camp, who has hua cnarge ot the school at Knightville, has tendered her resignation. Professor A. It. W. Hintze. a teacher In the State university, will have charge of the high school classes of tho Eureka school. The vacancy in the superintendence of the schools has not yet been filled by the board, nor that of teachers for the fourth grade. Appointments Appoint-ments will probably bo made next week when the trustees hold their regular meeting. meet-ing. The school board of Ma-mmoth City, whch comprises the twin camps of Mammoth Mam-moth and Robinson, have employed the following corps of teachers for tne coming school term: Principal, Robert H. Towers Tow-ers of Robinson: high school, J. T. Hoyt of Ncphl, sixth and seventh grades, Miss Kale Helzer of Colorado; lower grades, Miss Helen Stanford of Scofleld. Miss Johnson of Mllford, Miss Augusta Byluna of Provo. Miss Hazel Andrus, Mrs. C. IT. Risline and Mrs. Mary Doane of Mam- rvmth Preparations ha"e been about completed complet-ed by the different local unions for a grand celebration on Labor day September Septem-ber 5. There will bo a grand parade In the morning and most of the business houses will be represented by lloats. The Carpenters' union will havo one of the finest, floats ever seen In Utah. Tho grotesque section OT the parade will be under the supervision of Frank Morley, who promises some stunts that It will be worth coming a long distance to see. Miss Ella Dallin has been sclocted as Goddess of Labor and will be attended .by her maids of honor. The committee has secured se-cured ample funds to make the day a memorial one In the annals of labor. In the afternoon there will be nascball game. Free dance at tho pavilion for tho children of Tlntic with candy, nuts and lemonade. Sports and contests of all kinds will bo held on Main street for old and young. A grand ball at tho Elks pavilion will wind up the festivities of tho day. |
