Show CHILDREN PUNTED TBEESJTH WILE Reports .Show Thirty-Four Thousand Activities Performed Per-formed Arbor Day. City Superintendent of Schools D. H. C'hrlstcnsou has received rcporta from all of the public schools of tho city showing the. work done by the pupils on Arbor day. The showing Is not quito as good as that of last year for tho reason that In many instances thorc was 110L available avail-able space for the planting of trees, shrubs, liowers and gardens. Then, too, tho heavy frost of the few nights previous pre-vious to Arbor day probably bad an evil effect upon the proposition and discouraged dis-couraged to a certain extent the sotting out of fruit trees especially. Howevor, the results obtained wero very good and thcro Is no question that tho day was fittingly observed. Following is a report showing the total number of trees, shrubs, flowers nnd gardens gar-dens planted, ae well as other work done by the pupils Number of trees planted, PS33; number of shrubs planted, 8273: number of flower beds. 81113 ; number of yards cleaned, OiHG; number of vegetable gardens, lawns, etc., 1051; total, 31,006. |
