Holmes, who came to Ogden several days ago from Colorado, Is al the emergency hospital at tho police station, suffering from a dagger wound In the throat, which will probably cost him his life. Holmes persistently refused to give the officers any Information about his assailant, assail-ant, but. from the statement of a bystander, by-stander, It was learned that the man who did the cuttin"- was also wounded on the face with a knife wielded by Holmes, and. working on this clue, the police expect ex-pect to arrest tho unknown assailant in a few hours. Holmes and three other men had been drinking all evening, and a short time before the fight had gotten Into a dispute dis-pute among themselves, In which a woman wom-an of Efectric alley was the bone of contention. con-tention. After drinking a can of beer, the dispute dis-pute was- renewed and tho fight followed. City Physician Anna F. RIes nnd Dr. J. S. Gordon were called to close the wound In the neck of Holmes.
