This matter was taken under advisement by tho council. The committee on judiciary pronentcd a draft for an ordinance regulating pool and billiard halls. The ordinance provides pro-vides that no drink of any kind can be sold In the building, all screens nnd blinds to be removed, no card tables, chairs or any device used in games of chance. This has passed Its first reading read-ing and has been laid on tho table, to be again taken up when tho solons moot next week. The aboo ordinance goes to show that prohibition In this town, thus far. has been far from successful. Owners of pool halls pay only for ;l pool liconso, but. In fact, sell llfiuor In great quantities on the quiet. Tho prohibitionists here are rather blue over the present situation, and arc doing everything in their power to have the illegal salo of liquor stamped out completely. |
