Show LIGHTWEIGHT NEGRO KNOCKED INTO ETERNITY PHILADELPHIA, April 19. Frank Cole, lightweight negro pugilist or this city, died In a hospital today from Injuries In-juries received last night In boxing with Stanley Rodgeis at the boxing club managed man-aged by Jack O'Brien. Rodgcrs was held without bail to await the action of the coroner's Jury. The referee and several sev-eral witnesses -were also held. Cole, in the third round, received a solar plexus blow which sent him to the mat, his head striking witli terrific force. Later in the day "Jack" O'Brien, Rodgcrs. Cole's seconds and George Decker, the referee, appeared before Coroner Ford and were ,hcld In ball lo await tho result of an Innucst to be held Saturday. Rodgcrs's ball was fixed at f 1000 and the others were held In J500 each. O'Brien became bondsman for all Involved, In-volved, except himself, a friend going on the fight manager's bond. |
