Show I- GOULD OFFICIALS INSPEMTION Rio Grande and Western Pacific Heads Meet for a . Conference. PLANS FOR OPENING DEPOT AND WESTERN All Ready for Dales Heretofore i Set When Change Takes Place. I The meeting of the Gould officials incident in-cident to the opening of tho now terminal ter-minal and the Western Pacific commenced com-menced Monday in this city. The hcndH of the two roads camo from Denver and San Francisco and hero met tho officials of tho Utah lines. Among those present pres-ent are the following: Western Pacific Vice President Lo-voy, Lo-voy, Passenger Traffic Manager Lotnax and Superintendent Ogilvie. Ira, Donver & Itio Grande Vice President and Gonoral Manager Clarke, Assistant K General Manager Martin, Assistant K General Passenger Agent Wndleigh. Tho first matter to be takon up was a thorough inspection of new trackage and t he terminal. A special train was iBf run out on tho Western Pacific to the Jordan, from tho old station, and brought back via the now tracks ;Hr through tho blocks between First South 'I and South Temple curving into the H depot tracks at Fourth West. At the stn- H tion an hour or so was passed in a tour Hg over the grounds and through the build- BR ing. which is so nearly completed. Then tho train went down Fourth West and US' over the new double track through the Jmf. meadows connecting with tho Tiio H. Grande main lino at Tenth South street Wt. and thence back to the new station, ft' All the officials were enthusiastic over the appearance of the new sta-Wm sta-Wm tion and were unanimous in the dcclara- tion that it is one of the finest in tho west with splendid track entrances. Tho He. new double track going south was ospe- , Hf, cially commended. In tho meadows HE .-f. 5000 cars of gravel have been dumped to bring the track up to grade. It is ;i H? fine piece of construction all through. Ht Tuesday the officials will get to- HJ, gether to discuss train service. Mr. HI Lomax said in tho evening that the H road would be opened on August 22, KL but. until after tho meeting he could HJ, not say what trains would be operated He. or on what time but that to get every - thing nicely started one train at least Hf would leave this city on the opening H- dav and then as the traffic demands oth- IjH1 er trains will be put on. It will be some HI- time yet before the road puts on hm- K- itcd trains from Chicago, but this, with all other improvements, will follow in duo time, until within tho vear the road f5. will be operated on a regular and well H arranged schedule. The new equipment RK has arrived but the consist of the trains llm; ns well as other details will have to be IlK gradually worked out. |
