Show 1 IN POLICE COURT 1 A. S. Johnson failed to appear In Judge Whlttaker's court Monday morning to pay for the hire of an automobile. He was arrested and appeared In the court on Saturday morning, when he promised to pay the bill Monday morning. When he did not appear in court, a bench warrant was Issued for him. Rather than appear in court. Milo Thompson, who was arrested for using profane language on the streets Saturday night, nnd who was knocked down by Patrolman Pa-trolman Lyon in tho desk sergeant's room, forfeited his ball of $20 Monday morning. W. F. Henry, a Chinese, charged with violating the license ordinance, failed lo appear, and his bail, amounting to 5100. was declared forfeited. II. R. McPhcrson. charged with complicity com-plicity in the robbery of the residence of J. B. Cosgrin, 5 IS East South Temple street, pleaded not guilty to the charge of burglary In the second degree. Ills-preliminary Ills-preliminary hearing was set for August 10. Leon Soulard. tho ex-convlot who confessed to committing the burglarv, exonerated ex-onerated McPherson and told the police that ho had given the man some of :hc plunder with which to buy food. McPherson McPher-son was arrested while attempting to dispose dis-pose of the loot at Ogdcn. George Williams, the negro who was arrested Sunday night for beating his wifo. was sentenced to serve sixty days In the city jail. 'in which Carl Ofcrs, another and .Innocent chauffeur, chauf-feur, was shot, was acquitted of the charge of Intent to murder. Ofers had recovered from his wound. Arthur Scott, the other duelist, will be tried on Tuesday. Tues-day. Harry Smith, a negro charged with petit laiceny, was discharged. Ho acted as his own attorney and conducted his case in such a creditable manner that he wns acquitted. Smith was nccused of stealing n watch from Tom Nlcolo- , demutf. a. Greek. Smith called Ed. Stead- man. a JcwHir of Murray, who testified I positively that he had seen Smith with the watch prior to the dale of the alleged al-leged theft, |
