There Is another baboon in Mr. Patterson's collection col-lection which "got good and even" with ono of the carotakers who had a penchant pench-ant for tensing the baboon. Seeing the caretaker approaching, the baboon poured some water Into a hole In Iho ground, mixing it with earth so as to make mud. When his enemy came up he splashed the muddy water on the caretaker's care-taker's uniform. For a long time after this every time the animal saw the care taker he indulged In which had every appearance of being laughter. The elephants have a decided sense of humor, or signs of It. any way, and many arc the amusing capers they Indulge in between exhibition hours. There arcs forty of these mammoth pachyderms with tho Barnum and Bailey collection, two of which arc said to bo the rarest and most costly In tho world. They have huge, umbrella-shaped ears which cover nearly half of their bodies. One of them is deeply deep-ly attached to "Boston." the baby elephant ele-phant of the group, and Is never quiet when.
