Show A BOY BADLY HURT; CAUGHT IN MACHINERY Special to The Tribune. KAYSV1LLE, April 23. C.tught in the wheels of a brick pressing machine at the plant of the Kaysvllle Brick company, this afternoon. Marvin Kane Nlcols. II years old. son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Nlcols of this city, had tho flesh torn from tho calf and thigh of one log, exposing the hone. It is feared by the attending physicians that death may result, as there is serious danger of blood poisoning setting set-ting in. as oil was snllled Into the wound. Young Nlcols had been In the employ of tho brick company only a few days. He was oiler, supposed to keep the machinery thoroughly oiled. This afternoon after-noon while going between two of tho shafts he climbed over tho gearing which runs the Jug machine. His overall over-all leg was caught by the projecting set screw of one of tho smaller gears and he was thrown into a largo wheel. Ills cry of fright nnd pnln attracted the attention at-tention of Harry Barber, who grabbed young Nlcols. pulling him from the clutches of the machine and undoubtedly saving him from Instnnt death " Tho machine, ma-chine, however, had already torn the flesh from the calf and thigh of the leg and had badly lacerated the face. |
