The striko of tho iron workers at the new Commercial club building is still on, the member"? of the union and the Minneapolis Steel & Mnchiucry company com-pany having failed to reach a conclusion conclu-sion at the meeting held yesterday. All of tho non-union men employed on the building left the premises at " o'clock Vridaj' afternoon, when the executive ex-ecutive board of the iron workers met with W. M. Lohman, of the James Stewart company, and L. .1. Record, of tho Minneapolis Steel &: Machinery company, in the offices of tho James Stewart company. Tho conference, which lasted two hours, was for the purpose of arriving at a settlemont of the trouble, and tho proposition of tho Minneapolis Steel & Machinery company com-pany to the. union was that the company com-pany would pay the required scale or wages to the men employed on all of. the work of tho company within the city limits. Mr. Record then stated that ho would uso the nou union men employed at tho present time on all of the oiirside work if ho saw tit to do so. Exccutivo Board Reports. What we ask is the closed shop, and what T mean by the closed shop is for the employer to pay the. scale and employ em-ploy union nieu on the job. If there is anything that the employer objects to iii the matter of working rules, transportation, or the manner of paying pay-ing the men. we are willing and will meet the employer half way io arrange such difficulties.
