Show BALLOON PRIZES ARE AWARDED TO WINNERS NEW YORK. June 11. Tho balloon University City, of St. Louis, with John Berry and John McCullough as pilots, was the winner of (he national balloon contest. Official reports from the contestants con-testants were before the Aero Club of America today and show that tho University Uni-versity City covered a distance of 3S2 miles, landing six miles south of Fort Payne, Miss. The balloon New York, manned bv A. Holland Forbes and Captain Harmon of Now York, was second in the. distance contest, landing two and one-half miles south of Corinth, Miss., having a distance dis-tance of 3551 miles. The Now York will be awarded tho prize for the longest period pe-riod in the air, being In night fifteen hours and ten minutes, unless a protest lu made. |
