Secretary of War Dickinson presented the members of the graduating class with their diplomas. He first witnessod a review of the entire cadet corps. Socrctary Dickinson, in presenting thc diplomas, feivewod the achievements of the militarv academy. General Porter, who graduated from West Point in 1860. spoko in glowing terms of the efficiency of the American army and navy and of Aniorican possessions pos-sessions abroad. There were 10IJ members mem-bers in the graduating class, including two Chinese, Wen and Chen, and a Hawaiian. Originally tho class numbered num-bered 1(55, but many were dropped for deficiency. When thc name of G. V. Wilkes of Utah was called. General Marshal, chief of enginocrs. asked and was given permission per-mission to deliver the diploma. Wilkes is S2 iu thc clnss. Chen was lO.'J.
