Four long-shots mado the bookies happy at tho Fair grounds races here this afternoon, and the public fell for a big wad. The favorites fav-orites all seemed to be heavy on their feet, many of them not boiug able to oven get in tho money. Frank Lubbock woii the feature event of the day and beat a classy Held for .six furlongs. The fans did not think it was in iho old horse, but ho finished ahead of Jack Paine and Fthel Day. Onlv one favorite won. Howard, owner of Jack Paine, asked Judge Blum lo give him liullman to rido .his horse in tho fourth race, but tho judge refused to allow a jockey out of training lo ride the horse. Frnch was given tho mount instead. The races aro proving so popular at Ogdcn that M"nnager Murray expects to ndd ton more days to the previous schedule of thirteen, which will take the races up to November 2(1. |
