Show GREAT NEW THEATER OP NEW YORK IS OPENED NEW YORK, Nov. G. The now theater thea-ter at Central Park West, from Sixty-second Sixty-second to Sixty-third street, built, by the generosity of privato subscriptions for the encouragement of American dramatic dra-matic genius, and for the present ation of tho best in literature, was formally opened this aftornoon hy representatives of the state and nation. ' The ceremonies began with an overture over-ture rendered by the orchestra of the Metropolitan opera company, following which tho keys were delivered by the architects to the founders represented by J. P. Morgan, who then introduced Senator Elihu Root and Governor Hughes. A dress rehearsal of Antoin- and Cleopatra, Cleo-patra, with which the theater will open next Monday night, was given tonight. |
