Tt is hoped that the people of Salt Lake will generously respond to this appeal for a worthy charity, the only one of its kiud in tho city. Tho association is composed of ladies of all denominations who givo their time and services absolutely without compensation compensa-tion and purely for tho work of relieving re-lieving suffering. Any sick .person who is destitute and in need of hospital care, regjirdless of race, creed or color, applying to (he president of I ho association associa-tion or,tho chairman of tho charily committee, com-mittee, will havo his or her case promptly prompt-ly attended lo. ft. Mark's hospital cares for tho patients thus sent al cost. Tho past year the association has had .'it the hospital fifty-one patients for 15.17 daj's, making an avorage of Ihrcc and ono-half patients a day for every day in the year. The cost of this has boon $2(310.10. aud at the pros-ont pros-ont time the funds aro exhausted, so that it is very necessary lo moko this charity ball a success, if this good work is lo be coniinuod. One instance ma' givo some idea of I ho good done by the. association: A chibrwas sent to the hospital by iho association last summer, suffering from a dislocated hip. She was twolvo years old, and through the poverty of her parents, had been neg loclod for years. She was suffering agonies and living in squalor, with the prospect of being a helpless cripple. A kind fnend brought her lo tho hospital, after traveling with hor sixty miles by stage. She stayed tlireo months and loft completely cured, instead of being a cripplo for life, if. iudocd, sho could ha.vo lived. This is only one of many inslance-j of the help given by this association as-sociation lo relieve tho sick aud suffering suffer-ing poor.
