Cronin was checkod in Wednesday Wednes-day as tho new joint agont of the Denver & Rio Grando and tho Westorn Pacific. Mr. Cronin assumed his duties as soon as tho auditor had found everything every-thing in shape. Tho new joint agont has long boon with tho Rio Grande. For tho last three and a half vears ho has been general agent of tho company at Ogden. Prior to that time ho was fifteen years in. tho Salt Lake office, ten years of which ho was chief clerk. All told, Mr. Cronin has been with tho Rio Graudc about twonty years. He will bring his wife and two children from Ogden, and tho family will mako Salt Lake their home. "Tho business of tho Salt Lake office I have seen increase from $50,000 a month to moro thnn $-150,000, said Mr. Cronin. "When wo get tho Western West-ern Pacific opened up in good shape, wo will do a tremendous business, no doubt, for tho people of California will wel-como wel-como tho coming of our new road with open arms, and they will bo eager to ship their freight over tho lino. "Tho first through freight train will leave San Francisco next Monday, December De-cember G, when tho tariff schedules go into effect. " |
