If federal intervention has been planned to accomplish accom-plish the disnssociation of the Rock Island and Frisco lines, such a move mont did not have its inception in the interstate commerce commission. m Commissioners Com-missioners said tonight thnt tho combination com-bination of tho Rock Island and Frisco lines had not been discussed by that body for three 3'ears. Members of tho commission arc of the opinion that B. F. Yonkum and B. L. Winchcll have acquired the Frisco, not with tho idoa of a positive combination with tho rapidly forming Hawlej' sys tern, but to round out a southwestern system of their own. Mr. Yoakum is interested in the development de-velopment of the southwest, and. by-getting by-getting back his Frisco, it is said, ho Hopes, with the connection with tho senboard line at Birmingham, Ala., to enrry a largo portion of the traffic that now goes through St. Louis. It is. understood that in taking back the Frisco, which ho practically turned over to the Rock Island a few years ago, Mr. Yoakum turned back his interests in-terests in the Rock Island company. |
