Show 1 NOTES OP "U" ' The first literary number of tlie University Uni-versity Chronicle appeared at the institution insti-tution Monday. Jt is planned to devote the last issue of each month to stories and other articles of literary value, and it was with this idea in view that tho present issue was prepared. A picture of the ihigholders in the recent rush occupies the front page, and tlio remainder re-mainder of the paper, aside from the feature story, by A. Blaino Roberts, is devoted to "news. Under the head of " Intercollegiate News" appears an interesting in-teresting column containing items from other colleges throughout the country. M University football men will have an opportunity" in October to see themselves them-selves as other's sec them. Thev can sec just how they appear when they buck the line and' when they make flying tackles and clever dodges. And they can likewise observe their faults if they have any. All this is due to the presence, while they were going through their paces Monday afternoon, of n little machine no larger than an ordinary camera. This machine made films for a set of moving pictures which nreto be used at the State fair next month in connection with n large number num-ber of others, showing interesting phases of school life. The photographer photogra-pher expects to be busy for several days now obtaining the necessary material ma-terial for this picture show, which is to be the principal feature of tlie University's Uni-versity's exhibit this year. Wednesday Wednes-day noon all students are requested to be present to appear in a set of pictures pic-tures showing campus activities between be-tween classes. Active laboratory work in chemistry started Monday. There is an almost endless amount of work connected with I he cheeking nut of apparatus, and tlie full staff in thc department has been busily engaged in attending to these matters for the past two weeks. A system has been innugnrnted this year whereby each stock bottle is numbered' to correspond to a particular place on tho shelves. A student found with a bottle out of its place will bo fined. In this way it is expected to savo a great deal of time, and mnke tho work in the laboratories more systematic and effective. . A number of prominent; students are contemplating tho organization of an American club. There are a great manv sympathizers with the American party at school, and a large majority of them will have a vote in tho coming county election. It. is' thou -lit. that tho organization of a club would result in a big boost for the parly, around the 'Varsitv. and the agitation may result in something definite at any time. The sophomore class met' Tuesdav afternoon. Hugh Price was selected to fill the vacancy on the executive board made by the non-return of .7oe Johnson, John-son, who was elected last year. Committees Com-mittees were appointed by the president. presi-dent. Dell .ludd. for tlie purpose of considering con-sidering changes in the present system of conducting the annual freshman-sophomore freshman-sophomore flag rush, and for agitating the movement for the establishment of campus rules. The general demand "for such a set of rules is becoming more and more insistent, not only among I ho upper classmen but among the freshmen and preps, and this action by the sophomores sopho-mores shows where J.hey stand in the matter. Candidates for the choir are urged to report to Squire Coop a I. his office in tlie museum building, at 4 o'clock Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon. The faculty decided Tuesday to devote de-vote next Saturday morning to "the com-i com-i pletion of the much-delayed Moran walk. The students have done more than half tho work and now the faculty, fac-ulty, exclusive of ladies, of course, feel that it is their turn to lend a hand. Despite rumors to the. contrary, it is believed that any students desiring to work will be furnished with shovels and be permitted to assist. |
