Show RELEASE CONSIGNMENT OF CONFISCATED CHERRIES The case of the United States against twenty-five cases of Maraschino cherries, was heard by .ludgo John A. Marshall, in tho United States district court, Monday, and, upon the recommendation of United States Marshal I. II. Smyth, the KoodK were released and turned ovrr to Itioger & Tjlndley of. this city. The goods wero seized somo tlmo ago. undor the pure-food laws, it being claimed that they were improperly labeled. The goods had been shipped bv tho K. S. L.yon company and tho U:ms company of SanFranclsco to lilcger & Lindley of this city, and boro the label of tho latter firm. The consignors proved to the satisfaction sat-isfaction of the court that two words, "Packed for." had been left off tho label unintentionally, and with absolutely no Intention to deceive. By paying the cost.s accruing from tho attachment, amounting to $31.fiU, the local agents of the exporters secured the release of the consignment. |
