Trading was very weak on tho local produce market Monday, but ncvorthelc83 dealers were cheerful and expressed their expectations that things would brighten up as soon as thero Is a settlement of tho weather conditions. A shipment of fresh fish was received In thc city Monday from the northwest, and included a supply of salmon, halibut, loose oysters, crabs and lobsters. Thc latter two kinds of fish have been very scarco for several weeks past. A consignment of fruit and vegetables was also received from California. It included a small supply of oranges, fresh pears, apples, lettuce, cucumbers apd radishes, The dealers are only ordering , limited supplies of fresh produce at thc present time, as tho demand is not great enough to Justify the keeping of any large supply on hand. Prices still continue steady, and there seems to be no signs of any changes. Creamery butter holds at 40c a pound retail and 33c a pound wholesale, and fresh eggs continue at 50c a dozen. |
