Show CONSERVATION COMMISSION SOON I GETS DOWN TO SYSTEMATIC WORK WASHINGTON, July 10. Although scarcely more than a month has elapsed sinco President Koosevelt appointed the National conservation commission tho work of taking stock of the Nation's natural resources has begun. This work will be carried on vigorously in order to enable tho commission to make its report to the President by January 1 next. A large amount of the material embracing em-bracing the subject of conservation of waters, lands and minerals is already available iu tho various executive departments, de-partments, the heads of which have offered of-fered hearty co-operation in the great task thc commission has undertaken. Other importnat data will be collected through special channels, including state conservation commissions now bc-incr bc-incr formed and some of the creat Na tional organizations represented at tho jjl White House conference recently. 'H By early fall the President expects JH to havo in hand sufficcnt material to ,H begin the study of the inventory of the 'M country's resources, and by the middle H of October it hopes lo have the greater iM part of this material in hand, so that 'H the full commission will hold its first 'M meeting in December may at once take up tho study of facts thc summer's 'IJH work has brought together. One week later the commission will hold a joint meeting in Washington with the view of securing furthor and closer co-operation lH with the various state commissions. ;JH |
