Show A MOTHER'S BLESSING. A ccntlc mother of Salt Lake has written a letter to Tho Tribune, to encourage en-courage the great fight which she believes be-lieves it is making for tho betterment of things In Utah. This good woman has little children who must mctt the oondltlons which shall surround their lives when they leavo her knee to go out to light the battle of the world. And sho Is praying that those conditions may be such as to give to her boys and girls the sweetest and most blessed opportunity op-portunity that any child can ejoy In tho world for hnppy childhood and for strong, clean manhood and woman-' hood. And she praises tho work of The Tribune. It Is a prouder gift t6 receive such commendation than to have resolutions of boards of directors of corporations, or plaudits from Legislatures or boards of trade. That kind of a word, sincerely sin-cerely meant, Is both armor for defense and blade for assault. If the mothers of this community feel that Tho Trlbuno Trlb-uno Is striving to make things better; to settle conditions here so that citizenship citizen-ship shall have its rightful meaning; so that boys shall have their full opportunity opportu-nity for splendid endeavor; and so that they shall not be compelled to play the many wife-seeking hypocrite in order to have tho commercial favor of the dominant force; so that girls can grow up into womanhood In a community where plural marriage is not taught as a sacred condition, after. the laws of tho land and tho law of God havo both pronounced against It If, wo say, tho mothers of Salt Lake can feel that The Tribune Is working for that which they arc praying for, then we are satisfied that the labor performed is in the right direction. And all that we can ask is that moro power shall attend upon tho effort, that we may do more nud.more good for the. children of illo, State. As this good mother wrJtes, hey will dwell In the-conditions which wo make; and therefore we should strive, at any cost, to make the conditions such that our children can praise us for having established a community life in which Is blessed Inspiration to high deeds, and safety for sweet family life. |
