Show GRAY WOLF ATTACKS A MAN Connecticut Neig-hborhood Terrified by Five Escaped Animals. PLA INFIELD, Conn., Oct. 22.-No little lit-tle alarm was caused hero today by the news that James McCarthy, an Insurance agent, had been attacked on tho road near here this morning by n big gray wolf, and women and children, especially those living In tho outlying districts, are afraid lo venture out nlonc. McCarthy managed to senre the animal away and escape, bqt Elmer Teft of Jewltt City, who also met It, had a bad fright, as the animal attacked him savagely. Fortunately, For-tunately, he was carrying a revolver and 'the animal made off after ho had fired a couplo of shots. Hunting parties were organized or-ganized nt the time, as tho brutes wcro known to bo dangerous, but they roamed at largtj for suveral days through tho woods before four of them were shot down. As nothing was seen of the fifth, It was hoped It also had been wounded and killed, and Its reappearance today has caused much uneasiness. It Is feared that tho fact that It Is roaming around so cloeo to a thlckly-lnhabltcd district means that the animal has been starvod out of the woods and must bo In a particularly par-ticularly dnngcrous temper. |
