Show &JorR of tbe Women's lub$. Model Corridor at Grant. Patrons of the Grant school filled tho corridor on Friday afternoon, the occasion oc-casion being the presentation of tho model corridor to the school by tho home and education section of the Ladies La-dies Literary club. The presentation was made by Mrs. R. W. Hutchinson, chairman of the section, and accepted by Oscar W. Boylo, president of tho Board of Education. Brief remarks on the Importance of placing works of art in the public schools wero also mado by Mrs. William C. Jennings and Supt. Christensen of the city Bchools. Several enjoyable musical numbers were given by the pupils, a social half hour following the programme, when tea and light refreshments were served by the girls of the upper grades. Among tho works of art found In this new model corridor aro a lll'e-slze figure fig-ure of "The Chaste Diana"; a frieze of "The. Singing Boys"; the Madonna of the chair; a poster of "Dutch Women Going to Market"; a picture of Aesop, the fable writer; a splendid picture of a great ship leaving the harbor; a picture pic-ture of a forest of grand old oaks; and a very fine picture in colors of SL Mark's cathedral In Venice. |
