Proved His Citizenship. NEWPORT, July 10. James Van Alen, who has often been referred to as an Englishman, proved his title as an American citizen in serving on a jury v. 1th eleven other men In tho Supreme court. He acted as foreman of a jury impaneled to try a case brought by a woman to be relieved from guardianship.. guardian-ship.. Mr. Van Alen was drawn as a petit Juror last winter, but being abroud, ho was excused until the June session, and he was summonod to appear. He was put on the first cases and will have to be in attendance on the court all the week. During the day a lot of friends of Mr. Van Alon called at the courthouse court-house to see him sitting in the Jury box.
