Ho found that part ot I the country very rough, and formed the conclusion that a line to reach Vernal and bo feasible should leave the Du-chesne Du-chesne above the bridge. . The trip with Mr. Carter will result In ' a nhnniro hlnir made In this survey as . far as it applies to the Vernal, or up- I per route, and a lino will be continued I on down tho north side ot the river and across Lako Fork, and on around on !! the ridge this side of tho bridge and 1 on to Dry gulch. From1 there it Is easy 1 IH running to the fort and on several miles , I 'IH further, when some little difficulty Is -J encountered In getting across the washes that cross that section, but a jH pretty good line can be found never- . thelosa through to tho Uintah gap west 1 of town.
