Mayor Morris yesterday struck a bill of 51C2.G5, by tho Wolstcnholme Coal company, com-pany, from tho departmental requisition pay sheets. Tho bill Is for coal used last month at the city Jail. Tho bill was considered con-sidered exorbitant by the Mayor and when the payrolls wore submitted to him yesterday yes-terday for auditing ho scratched tho abovo Item off beforo signing his approval. Tho Mayor approved the action of tho City Council In allowing Dr. Benedict only $125 for tho balance of his claim amounting amount-ing to 51C1. Dr. Benedict took caro ot Patrolman Heath at tho tlmo ho was shot by tho hold-ups and performed a successful success-ful operation upon his foot. Ills bill for this work was $b5. Ho also presented another an-other claim of $151 for services rendered lit attending to Bcveral cases at the police station. , , The Council somo tlmo ago appropriated $375 to his credit, which the doctorrefused to accept.
