Show The powers. It Is said, will support Russia in her contention that the Japanese treaty with Korea Is void. But this will depend. If the treaty meant Is the one which guarantees the Independence of Korea, It Is not at all sure that the powers will support Russia Rus-sia In declaring it invalid, whatever the result of the war, while If Japan wins, there could be no question but that the treaty would hold. If Russia wins, and tho alleged treaty which gives Japan a protectorate is meant, then no doubt Russia would be sus-.tained sus-.tained in her claim that the treaty h invalid; while if Japan wins and Korea agrees, It Is not easy to see how the treaty could be set aside. It is too early yet to say what the powers will or will not do about Korea. Perhaps they wilt be saved the .necessity of doing anything. |
