Show DR. GARRISON IS DEAD AFTER A LONG FIGHT FOR LIFE Dr. Charles M. Garrison, one of tho most popular and widely-known physicians physi-cians of this city, died yesterday afternoon after-noon of cerebral meningitis, at the home oC,Dr. T. B. Bcatty, 503 East First South street. For many years Dr. Garrison has suffered with an affection af-fection of tho brain, which ended in his death. He was taken with nn acute attack at-tack while visiting with his friend, Bt. Bcatty, on Thursday morning, and although al-though everything possible was douo to relieve his pain ho suffered excruciatingly excruciat-ingly until death came. The deceased was bom in Newburg, N. Y., about forty-five years ago, and came to Salt Lake City in 1S93. lie was a personal friend of Gov. Odell of New York, and his father was a prominent physician of New York City. Dr. Garrison Gar-rison was a well-known practitioner in New York when, about twelvo years ago, ill health compelled him to seek a change of climate. A trip to Europe in no way bcneiltcd him, and with his mother and aunt he camo to Utah. Thoso relatives died about fivo years ago, leaving Dr. Garrison practically without kin. Ho had never married, and his only ncai relative is Edward Gridley, a cousin, living In Brooklyn, who is now on his way here. Dr. Garrison Gar-rison made his home hero with Mrs. La Forgo, UZ East First South ntrect, an old friend of tho family. Tho deceased was a man beloved by all who knew him. Possessed of a most kindly nature, he made It his mission in life to help others, and although he suffered suf-fered almost continually, he was cveV cheerful and had a smllo ever ready. Ho was justly popular as a physician, and besides attending to a large practice prac-tice he had boon recently acting as State medical Inspector. He was extensively ex-tensively Interested in investments hero and leaves a large estate in New York. His cousin, Mr. Gridley, cannot arrive here before Wednesday, and it is not likely that the funeral will occur until his arrival. Pending Mr. Grid-ley's Grid-ley's instructions no arrangements for tho funeral have yet been mado. |
