Show KILLED IN FIGHT OVER SIXTY CENTS Lodging-Houso Row in Spokane Ends in Murder of a Land- lord. SPOKANE, Wash., March 26. Gcorgo Stevens, landlord of n. rooming-house in the Marlon block on Rlversldo avenue, this evening was killed during a fight with three roomers over CO cents. Rolling English, a man named Harrison Harri-son and another said to be known as Smith, had broken a pitcher and the landlord, in trying to force payment, locked them out of their rooms. During Dur-ing tho fight Stevens was struck on the back of the nock with a slung shot and died almost instantly, his neck being broken. Stevens was formerly a rancher In Iho Paloustj country, and came here flvo months ago. He leaves a wife and six young children. The murderers, escaped and are being pursued by tho IMDlIce, who believe they aro still in tho city. |
