Show BOOM AT SOUTH PASS I Outlook for Swcctwatcr Mines Better Than for Thirty Years South Puss Wyo July 2Not since the boom days of GS and CD has the outlook for the Swcetwaler mines been so flatterIng as now The work of the past year has demonstrated that all the mines here need is development to make them metal producers Nowhere In the world perhaps arc there liner showings upon the surface and for the depth so far reached than Is seen here among the foothills of the Wind River mountains moun-tains The theory advanced by some that the ore values would decrease with I depth has been knocked Into a cocked hat by tho late development in the Carriso mine and others I At a depth of 300 feet the Carrlsa shows richer and wider bodies of ore than ever before On the new level now being run is slxtccn feet of fortydollar freemilling ore and twenty to thirty feet of concentrating ore which shows an assay value of about 15 per ton The Carrlsa company will put Up chlorlna LIon works In the near future to handle this great body of base ores A new I shatthouso and hoistingworks capable capa-ble of handling ores and sinking to 1000 feet will bo erected at once The old prospecting shaft In which the development devel-opment work is now being clone is to I be abandoned and a new perpendicular one sunk This company Is now convinced I con-vinced that they have a mine that justifies jus-tifies the expenditure of all the needed capital to pUt their property in shape to mine on the most approved and latest methods But 1ew mines in the world show the quantity and quality of ore seen at this mine What is true of the Carrlsa may In the near future be true of the Franklin the Duncan the Doc I Barr the Mary Ellen the Jim Dyer the Garfield the Caribou the Miners Delight De-light and numerous other oldtime producers pro-ducers which were abandoned when tho first pinch was encountered The Mary Ellen company have their I new mill almost ready to start D T Thompson of Lincoln Neb who has bonded and leased the Garfield will equip the mine with a dry concentratIng I concentrat-ing process which is said to handle the ores of that mine In a very satisfactory way whon tried in a small way and should the process prove a success In a practical way a large custom mill will bo built at Atlantic < City A custom mill Is a thing greatly needed here as there is not a custom mill in any of the mining camps of the I South Pass country A custom mill would do more toward causing the mines to be developed than any other thing A i man by the name of Can has Bonded and leased the Burr claim at Lewiston Work was begun but was soon after sloped on account of flnan clal difficulties We are told that the stoppage of work will l be for a short lime only Sanpete Operations A letter from Mantl says that a number of citizens of that town associated asso-ciated with others of Ml Pleasant mvo purchased a controlling Interest in the Black Pine Mining Dyreng secretary and treasurer and James W Hoggan general manager Mr HO sun will leave Monday for the nine taking with him a number of men and teams and begin operations Jt is the intention of the company to put In machinery In tho near future as It Is fully assured the grade of ore will warrant the investment The same correspondent Bruce Brown has the past three months spent considerable time and money in driving a turinol Jito the foothills about one mile east of Mantl Starling from a marsh he has tunneled 265 feet and the flow of water has increased to sev entyfive gallons per minute Mr Brown intends going further with the hope of Increasing the flow The find Is as valuable as a gold mine as tho water wa-ter Is clear and will be In demand for city use New Sensation Group Al Brim superintendent of the New Sensation group situated between Big and Little Cottonwood canyons and adjoining the Oregon mine left for camp again yesterday and expects in short time to have the property among Ihe producing ones The owners havo now driven inio the properly a die tance of 360 feet and in the tunnel havo uncovered ores that show 5 percent per-cent lead and 16 ounces silver with riper i ri-per cent zinc while In a winze at a depth of faCt thlce feet the ore shows I per cent lead yO ounces silver and 27 per cent zinc On the opposite side of tho hill a tunnel has been driven Into the group a distance of 520 foot and prospecting through this avenue will be resumed In short time The I group also shows a copperbearing contact con-tact within Its boundaries on which work will begin the present season I Utah and Invo Fred Matthews general manager for the Utah and Inyo Mining company whose properties are located in Inyo county Cal Is now at camp and to the local officers of the company In this city writes that he will begin the marketing of ores early next month when two or more carloads of high grade will be sent out From the mine he te i raising nothing lint shows less than 80 per cent lead with fair values In silver This he IB placing upon the dump in anticipation of a mill with which it will be eventually concentrated concen-trated while the high grade Is sacked and shows a superb general average The ore body is a large one with about onethird of shipping tjuallty and Frank 15 Wilson and his associates expect ex-pect to see the mine develop Into one of the most productive on the Pacific I coast 4J D J Williams Returns Provo July 7D J Williams score lary of the Illinois Mining company whose properties are located at Blng ham has returned from a trip to
