Show A1HER OY UROLAR Youth Robbed Coal Com panys Office CONFESSED WHEN ARRESTED Willie McKay a Boy of Sixteen Breaks Into a Desk in the Office of the Diamond Coal Company and Secures n Sum that Hade Him Affluent But He Soon Came to Grief Four Suspicious Characters Taken in by the Police One Had a Skeleton Key Willie McKay a lad oC 16 years Is behind the bars at the city Jail on the serious charge of houscbroaking The boy admits stealing a wellfilled money box from a desk atthe Diamond Coal companys ofilco at 121 South Main street yesterday morning Most of the stolen money was found In his pockets when ho was arrested by Detective Sheets and Sergt Janney late yesterday yester-day afternoon In all the youth took dl 52 in cash and two checks one for Sand S-and the other for 1075 The money was stored In a cash box locked in the coal companys desk in the Pacific Ext Ex-t press companys office The office was open at the time of the robbery about 7 a m and employees of the Express company were at work In the rear part of the room The theft was not discovered dis-covered until an hour later when Agent Robert Marsh went to the desk or change Police headquarters were notified and Detective Sheets and Scrgt Janney went out 4o Investigate At first suspicion fell upon young Frank Hinder a clerk but the young man told such a straightforward story that the officers believed him innocent Following a clue they located young McKay on Second South street and found most of the money In his pockets pock-ets Ten dollars oC the eajjh had been spent for clothing at Mullets clothing store C more had been spent at various vari-ous places The balance was recovered fromhim and will be returned to the owners The McKay boy has a bad record having been arrested several times for stealing bicycles His parents live in the city |
