Show Supposed 1 1 oksk-tii ikves. When Mr. Hubert Campbell, jr., son of out-City out-City Recorder, was in Bear Lake Valley Val-ley recently, to take up hind on which to locate, he was approached by an Indian calling himself "Black Hawk,'' who turned over to Mr. C. some horses that he said his band had stolen, with a view to find the owner and have them returned. Scon alter a man came and examined them and said they were not his, but was followed by another who described and claimed them. His description de-scription of the horses was correct, and he paid over an order on a person in Coalville, for $15, to pay the expenses incurred, on which they weie given to him. This order was subsequently proved to be bogus, no such person residing in Coalville as the one on whom it is drawn. In a short time a third person came who also claimed them, and wished the young man to go with him while he got an animal to follow the second person and the horses, but ha was so long hunting his animal and didn't find it at last that the other had ample time to make a clear disappearance; disap-pearance; and so the horses received from the Indian, or supposed Indian were gone. The wdiole thing has a curious appearance, and Mr. Campbell is at a loss i.o comprehend it, unless the affair was preconcerted by the men, and was a plan to get off with some horses which had been stolen by the Indian on purpose. Our friends going north, as well as thoss residing there, would do well to keep a close watch for such gentry. |
