| Show SEA AND SAIL NEW YORK Nov OA local paper I says It was rumored today that the I committee appointed by the New York I Yacht club Monday night to investigate j I investi-gate Lord Dunravens charges would secure some interesting testimony I when it came to question a certain unnamed un-named official connected with the dry dock at Erie basin I According to the report this official tells a story that gives at least a slight basis for Lord Dunravens charges though had he taken the trouble to investigate that thoroughly it is said he would have learned that there was nothing irregular in connec tion with the handling of the Defender The official referred to is quoted assaying as-saying that several hours before the Defender was measured the first time two and a half tons of pig lead which had been ordered a month before was I placed on the deck of the boat in the presence of Designer Watson It is I I claimed that not only Mr Watson but viceCommodore Glennie Dun I ravens representative was aware of j this and saw the lead afterward I stored away in Defenders hold It is also reported in connection with the investigation of the charges that I Ogden Goelet and J Malcolm Forbes are also on the committee that will investigate in-vestigate the charges though their names have been previously withheld from the public No one at the quarters quart-ers of the club would say anything about these reports one way or the other |
