Show COTTONWOOD POWER CO Petition to Extend Its Line North Considered NO ACTION TAKEN BY TH COUNCIL C02OHTTEE COMTEE Mr Jones Presents the Hatter and SaysHis Company Has No Hidden Hid-den Scheme Proposed Appropriation Appropria-tion For the Pioneer Jubilee Manager Jones of the Big Cottonwood Power company struggled with the committee com-mittee on improvements for an hour or so again last night The committee refused re-fused to budge an inch and would not reconcile themselves to the idea that it would be a good business proposition for the city to allow the company to extern its pole line to the northern limits of the city for the ostensible purpose of letting in the Pioneer Electric Power company freeMr Jones reiterated his statement that there was no hidden scheme TO SELL POWER We have more power now than we can sell he said and why should we want to get power from the Ogden company com-pany 1 tell you gentlemen i want to connect with the Power company because be-cause we want to sell some power in Ogden as well as all along the line between be-tween here and the junction city We dont want the bgden company to come into the city we want io keep I out Well I am going to vote to refuse to give you the permit said Mulvey in a voice that betokened something suspicious sus-picious lurking in I Judge McKay was called in to explain what position Wr city would be in 1 the Big Cottonwood company should allow the Ogden company to come in over the formers wires But the judge did not care to give an offhand opinion i and so the discussion was kept up the committee commit-tee sparring for time with Mr Jones on the aggressive I was no use however anything and the committee arosewithout doing THE JUBILEE The council met as a committee of the whole last night to consider the matter of appropriating 3000 to the Pioneer Jubilee Jub-ilee but more time was wanted for a Iee consideration of the matter Callister as soon as the meeting came r to Caister said the appropriating of so much money needed careful consideration and he therefore moved to defer action for one veek OMeara in his usual affable mood invited in-vited the mayor to speak on the sub led ject inasmuch as it involved the expenditure ex-penditure of money Wiscomb who was the original author of the resolution appropriating the amount saw no objection in postponing action for one week and so it was decided de-cided to lay the resolution over for another an-other week e |
