Show STATE NORMAL SCHOOL COMMISSION TO SELECT A SITE FOR THE BRANCH Will Leave For the South on May 3d Parowan Cedar City Beaver and Fort Cameron After the School The special commission composed of Superintendent Park President Tal mage of the university and Karl G Maeser created br the last legislature for the purpose of selecting a site for the branch state normal school met at the formers office yesterday and decided de-cided to make the trip south on May 3 The last legislature it will be remembered remem-bered appropriated 15000 for the establishment I es-tablishment of a branch of the state university normal school this institution institu-tion to be located at some noint in Beaver or Iron counts The Commission Commis-sion appointed has full power to select a site So far the cities which have made bids for the fichool are Parowan Cedar City Beaver City and Fort Cameron Cam-eron and between these places a spirited spir-ited contest is being waged Committees Commit-tees representing each of these towns sent in letters to Superintendent Park offering free transportation as well as entertainment for the members of the commission All these offers were declined de-clined the members not desiring to place themselves under oblissiiions The law orovides that the town receiving re-ceiving the school shall furnish grounds for the institution free of charge and until the state has clear title to the same the erection of buildings shall not be commenced < 1LJI l > |
