Show THE CITY COUNCIL The city council met last night with all members present Bills and claims to the amount of 1074 were allowed and payrolls to the I amount of 1900 were approved Of this latter item 1084 was the street payroll The fire and police committee recommended rec-ommended that a bicycle be purchased for the use of the department and that the force be not educed Adopted The sewer committee reported against connecting the Crittenton home with the sewer Adopted The finance committee reported on the resolution of Councilman Jones providing that the citizens north of Ogden Og-den river be exempt from dog tax recommending rec-ommending that it be denied Adopted The committee on buildings and grounds recommended that the tools belonging to Sexton Gilmore be purchased pur-chased for his successor Adopted The chief of police filed his regular report The auditor reported that on May 1 there would be due 2508 interest on the general improvement bonds issued in 1893 Also that there is now due from the county collector 2175215 and urged that an Immediate settlement be requested re-quested V C Gunnell asked the use of the council chamber for the meeting of the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals tonight Granted N Tanner jr asked for 25 damages for trees cut down near his place Referred Re-ferred J C Armstrong and others asked that Jefferson avenue between Twenty fifth and Twentysixth streets be graded up to the regular grade Thomas Plyer and Robert Wither spoon applied for the position of dog tax collector and Ezra Shurtliff applied ap-plied for the position of cremator Referred Re-ferred E E Layne sent in a bid for sprinkling sprink-ling Washington avenue 521 per week for each cart furnished Referred The council then went into executive session for over an hour Resuming the regular session they reported re-ported first that the committee on laws draft an ordinance prescribing the duties and fixing the remuneration of the dog tax collector second that the proposition of the county to rent the hospital be rejected third that a proposition be made to the commissioner commis-sioner of the county to sell the county the hospital at a price to be agreed upon up-on Adopted and the council adjourned ad-journed |
