brought several delightful de-lightful affairs and there will be sufficient suf-ficient entertainment in the brief period remaining to engage the attention of the gay world until the season of fasting fast-Ing and prayer arrives < > 00 The last brilliant affair of the winter r season will be the large reception and dance to be given next Thursday evening even-ing by Mr and Mrs Frank W Jennings Jen-nings at Devereux House The same day will witness the inaugural inau-gural exercises at Washington In honor of the occasion the ball room I will be elaborately decorated in the national colors < > I The most elaborate affair of the week was the Washington birthday card party given by Mr and Mrs Albert F Holden on Monday evening The house was decorated in American flags and cut ilowerb After the guests had been received by the hostess they were conducted into the library where Miss Wallace had charge of an Immense flag To each star was fastened a tiny envelope one being given to each guest apd in each envelope was found an article representing each state in the Union After guessing the state to which they belonged the guests were then given a tally card in the shape of an American flag the score of the games being kept by sticking small flags Ihto the larger one The game of 63 was played by the 24 guests present and at the close of the evening prizes were given the successful suc-cessful contestants < s > I < S > Mr and Mrs George Y Wallace entertained en-tertained at dinner last evening in honor of Colonel and Mrs Kent of Fort Douglas The table was profusely dec rated in Joseph E Caine I in honor of Senatorelect and Mrs I Joseph Ratvlins was a handsome affair and was participated In by nearly 200 guests representing the state officers judges officers of the National Guard and the members of the legislature The home was artistically decorated throughout with Oriental hangings which gave the rooms a unique and pleasing appearance Throughout the hall were placed divans di-vans with Oriental coverings The I stairs were twined with English ivy while in the rear of the hall stood Mrs Charles Caine under a canopy formed of Egyptian draperies serving punch In the front drawing room the guests were received by Mr and Mrs Joseph Caine assisted by Mr and Mrs Rawlins Raw-lins The walls of the room were hung with handsome rugs and draperies and the mantle was banked with palms and cut flowers The decorations in the dining room were in pink carnations and it was presided pre-sided over by Mrs D C Dunbar Mrs Willard Young Miss Hooper Miss Teasdel and Miss Card club Tuesday evening < t2 > c > Fanny Davenport whose name has long been a synonym for firstclass dramatic productions will be seen the coming week at the Salt Lake theater In revivals of Fedora and La Tosca on Monday and Tuesday nights and on Wednesday Thursday Friday nights and Saturday matinee will introduce in-troduce to our public Sardous latest play Glsmonda New York Paris and London papers credit this play with a success in advance of anything I this author has ever done The piece admits of such extensive and magnificent magnifi-cent scenic elaboration and so many of the scenes
