Show I THEOSUPHICAL CRUSADERS NOW ON THEIR TOUR ABOUND THE WORLD The Party of Eight Disciples of the Faith Will Arrive in Sal Lake Shortly The eight American Theosophists who started to make the circuit of the earth carrying the message of brotherhood I from country to country have returned i to the United States having accomplished I I that which seemed to many an almost impossible I im-possible undertaking The Theosophical crusade Is now a matter of history PiM will form an Important epoch In dl worlds life work for discouraged humanity hu-manity The enterprise was planned and organized by Mrs Katharine A Tingle the head of the Theosophlcn society and the legitimate successor to Mr William Q Judge and Madame Blaxatsky With her were associated Ernest T Har grove president of Theosophical societies I of America Europe and Australia Mr Claude Falls Wright Mrs Leollne j I Wright Mrs Alice Cleather of London Alce Mr H T Patterson and others who freely gave their time and in many cases j I contributed of their means In order tq make the undertaking a success They were nobly sustained by the members I of the Theosophical society everywhere I i who cither joined directly In its labors i assisted it financially carried on the I tegf te il IIi J J work of the society at headquarters orj prepared the field in advance in I the cities january j visited The t I darCcf New York January i 1836 for England and began I work in Liverpool where the first brotherhood supper was given to hundreds of tho poorest people who could be found I on the streets The principal cItes in I England Scotland and Ireland were Scotand visited and truo brotherhood exemplified both by deeds and words In many European cities visited where no branch I of tho Theosophical society existed one was formed and where they already existed ex-isted wa fOre membership was doubled National divisions of the Theosophical society were formed in Scotland France fSermany Austria Greece and also In Egypt India was then visited and ever possible effort was made to unite the contending factions of Hindus and Mo hammedans in bonds of kindly hro ho hood and to show that the only binding bind-ing object of the society Is to form tne I nucleus of a universal brotherhood of humanity without any silnctlon whatever what-ever Everywhere success attended their efforts and what might be called the spirit of newworld energy seemed to inspire all those who joined hands with al America for the good of the race The I I enthusiasm spread to Australia New Zealand Zea-land and the Samoan Islands where IJ large societies were formed and gratifying I results obtained On the llth of February Feb-ruary the crusaders landed at San Francisco ruar where cisco and proceeded to San Diego tho foundation stone of the School for the Revival of the Lost Mysteries of Antiquity was laid with imposing ceremonies cere-monies at Point Loma on the 23rd by Mrs Tingle and her associates in the presence of 2000 people Mrs TIngle delivered a formal address ad-dress In which she said Through this school and its branches the children of the race will be taught the laws of physical physi-cal life and of physical moral and mental health They will learn to live in harmony with nature They will become compassionate lovers of all woo breathe They will grow strong in understanding themselves and will use their strength for the good of the whole world Re joke with me then and may you all share in the blessings of this hour and In the brightness of the future which contains con-tains so much for man Some months from now tho cornerstone corner-stone of the temple will be laid This will be made of four pieces one to come from Ireland another from Scotland the third from Egypt and the last to be American i Ameri-can The building commenced today will eventually be the refectory and will cost J23000 There will be a magncent temple tem-ple lecture rooms dormitories and if the plan is carried out 1 great university devoted to studies now known to no school in the world I Next Tuesday the crusaders will reach Salt Lake City on their way to New York On Wednesday March 3 they will hold a public meeting at the Lyceum theatre on Second South street when the citizens will have an opportunity of seeing citzens this devoted band of TheosophIsts and of hearing from their own lips the message of brotherhood that they have delivered Ito I-to the people of so many different lands Addresses will be delivered by the prominent promi-nent members of the crusade party Mrs Katharine A Tingley Mr Hargrove and Claude Falls Wright whose lectures here two years ago were so highly appreciated ELLEN B FERGUSON |
