Show TH KONOLD CASE Proceedings Before Judge Rolnpp The case of Rudolph Konold vs the Rio Grande Western was on all daylong long yesterday I Is being stubbornly contested point for point by each side Yesterday was occupied in the examination ex-amination and crossexamination of Strothers and of examination of Coonry both expert machinists and boiler men A long crossexamination by Mr Richards and McMillan elicited the plaintiffs two points favorably to plaintfs One was that a buckle or bulge in the side sheet might have occurred if there had been plenty of water on It Another admission was that one of the boiler inspectors who had previously tested this boiler for the company was addicted to drink I is now thought the case will not get to the jury before Thursday Genessee County Savings ougftly enjoyable ball ever given In Ogden was given Thursday evening by Deseret division No S Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers That the affair I af-fair would b3 a great success was a foregone conclusion since the railroad men had i In charge but even the most sanguine did not expect a success suc-cess so complete In all respects as the event proved to be The decorations were most elaborate and at the same time tasteful About a car load of I flowers and greenery was brought In I from California and put up under the direction of an experienced dec rtor I Hendershot Long loops of evergreen festoons were hung from the ceiling i fsthe walls were l eedC cairns I ant tropical plants of great variety 1 and beauty At Intervals about the walls were II bits of paraphernalia suggestive of the D 1 E and pf railroad work in general I gen-eral Models of the earliest locomotives i locomo-tives and of the latest were there pictures I pic-tures of famouS Inventor and of engines I en-gines and of famous men who ran I af them were on hand No 909 nOf the New York Central or rather young Harts model of her was on the west wall I By an Ingenious device the machinery of the model was kept at work the wheels spinning around at a great rate Lanterns lighted and with globes and of all colors used by railroaders were distributed about the walls instead In-stead of the usual bell the floor man used Imitation steam whistle ager ued an imiaton whiste to signal to musicians and dancers A great supply of choice bouquets and boutonnieres was on hand for the guests At 9 oclock the grand march began I was led by chief engineer of division No 53 F C Stokes and wife Then came the officers in the following order T H Lindsay guide C W Harrington chaplain J A Ross first engineer James Hope second engineer T E Grant first assistant engineer G F Leldie second assistant engineer engi-neer J W Littlejohn third assistant engineer There were nearly 400 couples in the march F C Schramm had charge as chief dispatcher during this run and the way he brought the great special through showed him to be a railroad man by instinct if not by training The line was crowded while all sidetracks side-tracks and yards along the way were likewise and the switching problems presented were extremely complicated Nevertheless he brought his train of to many sections through according schedule time There was not a break nor hitch anywhere Every section arrived ar-rived at the proper place on time and departed likewise The right of way was kept clear and as the long lines moved with exact time and with railroad rail-road precision the spectators courfl hardly refrain from applause Indeed In-deed it was a magnificent sight The many colored lights the exquisite decorations dec-orations the beautiful toiletts of beautiful beau-tiful women and the hundreds of handsome hand-some gentlemen in full dress the whole forming intricate figures but swaying with matchless rythm to beautiful march music made up a scene as impossible im-possible to describe as it is to forget Every railroad man and especial every engineer seemed to be a special committee to look after the welfare of guests Among the guests
