Show FROM LEWISTON Hudson Smith Endorses All That Has Been Said Hudson Smith the well known mining min-ing operator has returned from the Camp Floyd district where he has a number of gold claims and endorses all the good that has been said of the new camp of Mercur and the surrounding sur-rounding gold fields The rush to the camp still continues and some great discoveries will be made before spring The rush to the new gold camp cbntinues and before many months Lewiston or Mercur will be one of the great camps of the territory ADJUSTERS AT WORK The Losses Sustained at the Jennings Block Fire The adjusters yesterday started to work on the losses occasioned by the fire in the Jennings Brothers Investment Invest-ment company building on Wednesday night The work will probably consume con-sume a week Messrs Sinclair and Marshal are adjusting the loss on the building and Mr Sinclair on the stocks of merchandise The latter is mercandie later being assisted in the adjustment of the stock losses by an expert appraiser from San Francisco THE DIXIE S31ELEER It Has Closed Down After A Successful Run A St George dispatch received yesterday yes-terday announces that the Dixie smelter smel-ter closed down several days ago after a most successful run The company now has on hand 102000 pounds of copper matte which will be sold to New York parties I will be shipped from Milford some time during the coming week The smelter will probably proba-bly remain closed down for some time as there is considerable dead work to la be done in the mine before enough ore for another run can be taken out THE MIDWINTER FAIR Railroads Will Doubtless Mako the Desired De-sired Concessions The president and secretary of the chamber of commerce are still working work-ing with the railroad officials on the transportation proposition which I acted upon favorably by the roads interested in-terested will result in Utah making a magnificent exhibit at the California midwinter fair Nothing definite has yet been decided upon but it is very probable that the railroads will make the desired concessions Interest in the proposed exhibit is being increased daily and already several of the largest larg-est manufacturing industries of the territory have made known their desires de-sires to exhibit their products at the fair I is now proposed to exhibit a model of the Saltair pavilion which is to be made of salt Such an exhibit hibit would prove a great advertisement advertise-ment for both the territory and the Saltair beach which would by this means be placed before people it would be otherwise unable to reach Yesterday W H Culmer offered his services for sixty days and proposes to go to San Francisco and take charge of the exhibit H L A Culmer ha also come to the front with a offer of his services |
