Clark Mates a Denial for Gould Ojr in A April 21Jay Gould and party stopped here on their way to Chicago S H H Clark speaking for Gould says the statement sent from Denver to tho effect that he intended to wreck the Western Westrn Passenger association is wholly false Furthermore the Western Passenger as sociation is his pet scheme and that so far from destroying it be would support it Mr Gould said this afternoon that when he reached Denver ho sent for a reporter and asked for a reliable man He told this man he was in favor of maintaining the Western Traffic association and the thought of disrupting it had never entered his bead Tho reporter went away and actually reversed what he said He never made any of the alleged statements about the Rock Island road or President Cable Mr Gould added he considered the Western West-ern Traffic association a succtss it had served to equalize rates and resulted in a better feeling generally in railway matters
