Show I'.'cdI Payments Hade 1975 Wool payments were mailed April 12, 1976 to all wool producers who filed for Incentive Payment in Davis County, according to Ben A. Thurgood, Chairman of the ASC County Committee. PAYMENT rate is based on the difference between the national average price of 44.7 x cents a pound received by producers during 1975 and the previously announced price of 72 cents a pound. Payment rate for Unshorn lambs is $1.09 per hundred pounds live weight. THE PROMOTION fund deduction is 1.5 cents per pound on wool, and 7.5 cents per hundredweight on unshom lambs. Incentive payments to wool growers are required under the National Wool Act, of 1954, as amended. WOOL PRODUCTION in Utah during 1975 totaled 6,140,000 pounds, according to the Utah Crop and Livestock Reporting Service, USDA. This was 15 percent less than 1974 and the smallest since estimates began in 1909. The lower level was the result of a reduction of sheep shorn. During 1975, a total of 591,000 sheep were shorn compared with 728,000 in 1974. Utah's 1975 average fleece weight was the highest of record and ranked second in the Nation. |
