Show j1 1 . t i . 6 Thursday, Jan. 6, 1977 f MaQh Police Kept Plenty Busy Bwm Veer's- first Week j A busy week of activities was reported by local police with one traffic accident and several thefts and acts of vandalism. On Dec. 31 at 1:45 p.m. on Mill Creek Drive, Estel Avery and Mary Stocks had stopped their vehicles and were talking talk-ing to one another. When Mrs. Avery got into her 1972 Ford pickup to leave, she put the vehicle in reverse and it ran into Mrs. Stocks' 1968 Toyota causing $250 to that vehicle. Mrs. Avery was cited for improper lookout, causing an accident. On Dec. 28 Tim Gray reported repor-ted that a guitar valued at $575 had been stolen from him. And on Jan. 3 Kevin Maddox reported that a stereo ster-eo valued at $100 had been stolen. On Dec. 30 three windows were broken at Helen M. Knight Elementary and 5 rooms were messed up. Damage Dam-age was estimated at $100. On Jan. 2 there was a burglary at St. Francis Episcopal Epis-copal Church where 2 radios and a cross were taken. Jan. 3 Moab police arrested Carmen L. Jeys and one juvenile, and the radios were recovered. Both persons were charged with the thefts, and a warrant is out for the arrest of another person also. Over the weekend someone broke a window at Moab Trading Center and two sewing sew-ing machines were taken. At Ramada Inn Jan. 2 there was a case of vandalism to a room. This is believed to have been committed by a tenant who had just left. Coffee was poured over the bed, and the bed frame broken, a lamp was pulled from the ceiling and a couch cushion damaged. The vandalism totaled between $300 and $500. On Jan 3 a battery waaj reported taken from a pickup truck belonging to the local Employment Security office," It |
